We believe that a good experience begins at the door and that’s why we’re proud of our interior design.

Designed by the sought after and highly accomplished interior designer, Simon Bartlett, our cafe design is completely original to Seaton Sluice. It’s a clear throw back to Victorian times but with very quirky twist.

Local writer Liz Robinson visited Castaways its first week of opening and had this to say:

“Where to start? Castaways is an Aladdin’s cave of treasures. From the outside, Castaways looks like a quaint traditional teashop. Beautiful traditional Victoriana windows complimented by the vintage streetlamp. The views are truly something to behold, Collywell Bay beach is an enticing mix of rock pools and rolling green hill space. My inner child was making mental notes to explore after lunch.

Walking through Castaways front door we were greeted by a visual symphony. The spacious dining area perfectly curated into a cool collection of fine art and whimsical photography. A medley of leather, antique furniture and perfect detailing makes for a sumptuous experience. Something that in my experience is not easily achieved. This beautiful rich space is overlooked by a gorgeous stone fire place that immediately invites me over.

Today is a sunny day, but I’m now eager for a cold day in which I can find an excuse to come back and appreciate the wood burner that frequents it, in its full glory.

Unlike most establishments that take a “luxe” approach, Castaways is a warm inviting environment, which finds harmony with its dark wood furniture and homely use of lighting”.
